Community Schools Instructional Assistant Substitute
Flowing Wells School District seeks a caring Instructional Assistant Substitute to support teachers, encourage student growth, and help create a positive, inclusive classroom.
Salary:
$16.23 per hour

Positions under 30 hours per week do not qualify for benefits
General Information:
Assists the community school teacher in the implementation of classroom academics, classroom management, and vocational needs. Assists in student growth and helps students achieve the highest level of education possible.
Qualifications & Requirements:
18 years of age or older and provides the licensee with documentation of one of the following:
High school or high school equivalency diploma or
Employment as a teacher-caregiver aide for 12 months or
Service as a volunteer in a child care facility for 12 months
Ability to obtain a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card
Ability to pass a background check as required by DHS and DES.
Ability to meet all DHS and DES requirements including but not limited to CPR/1st aid training, 18 hours of DHS annual training from hire date and DES Health and Safety trainings
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Skills in human relations.
Knowledge and understanding of students with special needs.
Ability to maintain discipline standards.
Willingness to attend conferences, in-service workshops, and classes to upgrade and update skills.
General clerical skills, primarily typing, filing, and data entry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.
Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.
Must possess time management skills.
Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists in formulating individualized student programs.
Assists and supports teachers in classroom planning, preparation, implementation, and management.
Assists with documentation and attendance.
Helps each child develop social and work skills.
Assists in implementation of student objectives and goals identified in program.
Participates in community school functions and activities.
Assists in cafeteria and playground supervision.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
