Secondary Library Technician
Flowing Wells seeks a dedicated Secondary Library Technician to support student literacy, manage library services, and inspire learning in a collaborative, welcoming environment.
Salary:
$17.89 per hour - commensurate with experience

10 month position - 8.0 hours per day

General Information:
Assists students' experience in reading, listening, and viewing library materials by providing maximum access to the library collection in an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Two years (minimum 60 college credits) of college training in library science or library technician program, preferably with a background in elementary education.
A minimum of 2 years of progressive library, instructional materials, or teaching experience, and background in children's literature.
Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word, and library software.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to efficiently complete clerical tasks.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.
Willingness to attend in-service meetings and workshop programs to upgrade required skills.
Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.
Skills in time management.
Essential Duties & Responsbilities:
Maintains a clean, orderly, and attractive library environment.
Maintains daily library operations, including checking out, checking in, re-shelving books, running daily checkout statistic reports, and sending out overdue notices.
Provides library services for students, staff, and community volunteers.
Provides instruction in library skills and teaches students proper procedures and behaviors to use in the library.
Enhances students’ literary appreciation through storytelling, book talks, audiovisuals, and special projects.
Instructs students and staff in the use of library computers and software.
Requisitions, processes, and maintains computerized files and inventory of all library books, periodicals, supplies, and audiovisual materials.
Correlates selection of books and materials with student curriculum and library media selection guidelines.
Repairs or discards damaged books, equipment, and obsolete materials.
